Educational/Professional Background

Rose received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Birmingham-Southern College and her Masters of Divinity (MDiv) from Duke University. She has a Graduate Certificate in Theology, Medicine, and Culture.  In her career, she has worked as a Board Certified Chaplain with Emory Healthcare and Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. She also works as a birth doula and is the founder of Doulas For Me, a local resource in Gadsden County working to make doula support accessible to all birthing persons.

Research and Teaching Interests, or Professional Field

Rose's research interests include medical sociology, race, and religious identity. She plans to utilize interdisciplinary methodologies to examine the cultural and institutional factors that influence maternal morbidity and mortality rates in African American populations, explore the current movement for reproductive justice, and further examine the significance of social connectivity and religious identity in aging populations.
