Research and Teaching Interests, or Professional Field

Vince is a doctoral student in the English department at Florida State University. His area of concentration is African-American Literary and Cultural Studies. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Kansas. Vince writes stories about black identity in America. Like all good fiction, his stories examine relationships: a woman who converts her dead father’s barbershop into a high-end café, or a straight father who sabotages his dream to raise money for the legal defense of his queer son. His most recent project is Sarge, a former Black Panther forced to put family before principles in 1970’s Louisiana.
