Educational/Professional Background
I received my Master’s in Art History and Certificate of Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2014. Soon after, I started at The Heritage Center at Red Cloud as Museum Educator. This contemporary Native art museum is located in the territory now known as the Pine Ridge Reservation in southwestern South Dakota. I served as Museum Educator at the Center for 6 years, building school, youth, and adult programming and teaching a continuing education course for k-12 educators called “Teaching with the Art Museum.”
Research and Teaching Interests, or Professional Field
My research will build on long-held interests and experiences I gathered at The Heritage Center. I will explore school-museum collaboration in object-based learning and innovative ways museums can support formal learning.
