Research & Teaching Interests
In her research, Emily enjoys looking at various intersections of gender and music, including music patronage, music management, domestic music-making, and nineteenth-century salon culture. Her dissertation focuses on Karoline Pichler's music salon to explore the ways women used the music salon to make cultural and political contributions in early-nineteenth-century Vienna. In addition to her research, Emily has also taught undergraduate musicology courses and directed FSU’s Renaissance Instrumental Ensemble.
